Established in 2019, Pitch Better Canada is a non-profit organization that develops and scales diverse-led small businesses through market research and capacity building. We work to facilitate economic inclusion for diverse women entrepreneurs, and startups in the BIPOC community. We have impacted over 5000+ business owners nationwide and have partnered with over 30 Canadian brands and 6 International brands. Through groundbreaking research, surveys, and reports, we provide critical insights into the challenges and opportunities facing underrepresented entrepreneurs. Our work empowers policymakers, investors, and business leaders with the data needed to drive equitable funding, resources, and support for women in business.
In partnership with BDC and the Canadian Black Chamber of Commerce the study identifies key characteristics of Black business owners and highlights a need for additional data to better support Black entrepreneurs.

Grant funding program for businesses lead by Black entrepreneurs with an innovation or technical component. We received over 1700 applications and selected 45 successful applicants to receive funding packages ranging from $2,500 to $10,000.
The Black Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub (BEKH), co-led by the Sprott School of Business and Dream Legacy Foundation, creates forward-thinking solutions to business and societal challenges faced by Black entrepreneurs. We partnered with them to host focus groups for Conversation about Black Entrepreneurs and Mental Health.
Africulture is a research study focused on agriculture in the Black Communities in Canada. Our goal is to increase visibility, address food scarcity issues, and help secure financing for Black farmers. We believe in the importance of supporting Black-owned farms and promoting their growth and success.
Sankofa Square commissioned a community research study on the best ways to advance the Square’s brand identity and experience. The research study engaged over 2,900 community members from September 9 to October 25, 2024, which included a public survey and in-depth stakeholder interviews. The community insights revealed in the study provide a roadmap for the development of the Sankofa Square brand.
The four-year Black Equity Integration Initiative aims to evaluate the effectiveness of social enterprises in facilitating the social and labour market integration of marginalized, racialized individuals, specifically formerly incarcerated Black Canadians.
